The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition: How to skip the long waiting time with the sleep/wait menu

The wait menu sucks, if you want to skip 24 hours you have to wait for the thing to tick down for ages.. this guide will show you how to skip the time waiting entirely.

There’s an easy way to skip the wait time, and it doesn’t involve adding any mods to your list. It’s a simple console command, and it has saved me so much time waiting.

This guide also works well with mods that extend the maximum wait limit.

Briefing

You’re here because you are sick of sitting there watching the hours count down after trying to wait 24 hours for a quest or something else.

There’s a couple of easy way to skip this time, and it doesn’t involve adding any mods to your list.

If you’re like me and don’t remember things so good, you could favourite the guide and it would be accessible again whenever you need it.

The Console Method

When you want to skip the wait time all you need to do is:

  1. First type TFC in to the console (this enables freecam mode)
  2. Then press the wait menu button and set it to whatever you need and press ok.
  3. (It should count down about two hours and then skip the rest entirely.)
  4. Simply type TFC again to toggle freecam off.

The Click and hold Method

When you want to skip the wait time all you need to do is:

  1. First open up the wait menu.
  2. move the cursor and drag the ticker to whichever time you need to skip.
  3. Keep the mouse held down whilst simultaneously pressing the enter button.
  4. As soon as you press enter, drag the ticker all the way back down to 1 on the left side.
  5. Let go of the mouse, and you’ve saved yourself some good time.

Debrief & Warnings

That’s it, you’ve skipped the time menu wait, and you can use that saved time to eat your sweetrolls, or Fus Roh Dah that pompus Nazeem out of Whiterun.

There are some words of warning using these methods thought, it’s best to save before using the wait/sleep menu, this is more important if your game is heavily modded and some mods take time passed into consideration. This is because sometimes, skipping the wait time can cause a CTD. It’s rare to happen, pretty much non existent on a vanilla playthrough.

TLDR?: Save before using these methods incase of CTD.
